● Relation
윤정훈
윤정훈은 놀뫼라 부르던 논산의 바다처럼 너른 평야를 마주한 자그마한 산언덕 마을에서 태어났다. 1989년 도자재료연구회에서 철화분청사기 재료 연구를 비롯, 제반의 도자재료에 대한 체계적 접근을 시도한다. 1990년 계룡산도예촌 설립 멤버로 도예촌 건립에 관여한다.
기물작업의 도식적 제작 방식에 한계를 느끼고 경희대학교 대학원에 진학, 학부와 대학원을 오가며 학업에 매진한다. 지도교수의 권유로 조형도자의 세계와 동서양 현대도예의 흐름을 접하고 선사시대 마연토기를 재해석한 작품으로 처녀 출품한 전국공모전에 입상하면서 향후 작업방향을 가늠하고 지금까지 "관계 Relation시리즈" 작업을 이어오고 있다. 유년기 시골고향집 툇마루에서 본 저녁노을의 찬란한 경렬함이 마치 트라우마처럼 뇌리에 박혀있다. 색면추상의 작가 마크 로스코의 생애 마지막 작품을 매일 같이 설레임으로 바라보며, 일과를 마치고 라흐마니노프를 들으며 하루를 반추하며 무겁거나 또는 가벼운 삶을 자리매김해 나가고 있다.
2017년 청주공예비엔날레 국제주제관 중 한국관 메인작가로 초대전시한 바 있으며 현재까지 꾸준히 개인전, 단체전, 초대전 등에 참여하며 계룡산도예촌에서 작업해 오고 있다.

YOON Junghoon was born in Nonsan-si, where his home was placed in a village on a small hill overlooking wide plains that lay spread out before it. In 1989 he examined materials of ceramics in a systematic approach in a society for the study of ceramic materials, including the materials of Cheolhwa Buncheong Sagi (ceramics with images drawn with iron containing pigment). In 1990 he worked for the establishment of the Gyeryongsan Ceramic Art Village as a member of the village establishment group.
YOON felt limited in the formulaic method of making ceramics and entered the Graduate School of Kyunghee University, where he delved into ceramics, taking courses of both the undergraduate and graduate schools. On the advice of his professor, he studied ceramic plasticity and the contemporary trends of Eastern and Western ceramics. He received an award for pieces based on a new interpretation of prehistoric mayeon togi (burnished pottery) at a national ceramics competition, which led him to set the direction of his work. His series of Relation that he has made until today is in line with that.
YOON has a strong memory of the glowing sunset that he saw on the terrace of his rural home in his childhood. He winds up his daily task, seeing the last painting of artist Mark Rothko, who is a key painter in abstract, color-field painting, and reflects on the day, listening to the music of Rachmaninoff. He is settling himself in his life that is heavy or light.
In 2017 YOON was invited to the Korean Pavilion in the 2017 Cheongju International Craft Competition as its main artist. He has continuously held solo exhibition, taking part in group and invitation exhibitions. He currently makes ceramic pieces in the Gyeryongsan Ceramic Village.

일상의 표현이라는 것도 일정한 행위나 사고의 내재된 표현성을 다시금 눈에 보이는 것으로 전환시키는 일이다보니 행위나 사고, 인식의 틀이 정해지지 않으면 그 표현방법도 제한될 수밖에 없는 것이기에 이쯤에서 한계를 만나게 되는 것이다. – 작가노트 中
Expression in daily life is to convert what is felt from acts or thoughts to what is seen. So if acts and thoughts are not framed within perception, they are not expressed fully, ending up facing limits. ⓒ
