Aesthetics of Moderation and Harmony Henri Matisse (¾Ó¸®¸¶Æ¼½º), the master of colors, has once said, ¡°All those colors expressed in my own space, a canvas, are very much similar to musical harmonies, and they should play only in harmony with live colors.¡± I do agree with Matisse. Colors that I would like to express are emotions, senses and energy. Still objects in my work are not what you, people, used to see in your daily lives. My brush comes up with those colors which feel dynamic but also harmonious at the same time, and with their help, the still objects have a chance to be re-born as some unique ones in full vitality.
I chose Keemyeongjeoljido drawn by Painter Seung-eop JANG from the Joseon Dynasty as a motif for my work. Keemyeongjeoljido is a painting of old dishes, flowers, fruits and vegetable. However, while working on this motif, I also tried to put this beauty just naturally enough into my work using other contemporary Western painting skills. In particular, I drew everyday objects such as dishes, flower pots and others with those sensitive senses and colors which only a woman is believed to have.
Every single object in this big world is mysterious presence, and they are all given a right to shine beautifully. In a canvas decorated by a brush, I grant peculiar but shining identities to all of them. My art gives birth to still objects and there, I would love to make them feel elegant and shine only with dignity, singing a song of harmony. I believe that what I try to realize with my art and still objects is something that would express my passion, affection and this soul of moderation. Here, I am considered a person who tries to love oneself more than anyone else as doing the best not to lose pureness.
How cleverly all those materials easily found in a daily life are harmonizing with each other in some dazzling space as they still keep their own peculiarities. People would watch this harmony of the materials, and I would be happy to invite them all to this chance to get completelyabsorbed into this graceful, elegant taste through the painting. The modernism both oriental and western gets harmonized, and it changes into some shining, mysterious aura. People who would appreciate my work should be given an opportunity to display their own imagination and creative emotions and in order to help them with that, I paint with passion. That is how I keep sending those messages full of hope and happiness to anyone who watches the painting.

Many of us seem that we have forgotten little details and beauty of simplicity in our lives as we march forward only to achieve goals. To those of us, I would like to give a chance to take a quick break not only to experience composure but also to reveal our emotions. Flowers change in every minute and yet, they have this beauty which could be seen only for that moment. In order to preserve that beauty, I draw that moment in my canvas. Flowers do not bloom or fall without meanings. Flowers are what have some unique attraction for every minute. It goes the same with human beings. I sincerely hope that my work helps you feel happy, leading you to the most beautiful yourself for this moment. ¨Ï
